End-of-Service Gratuity Calculator

Estimate the end-of-service benefit for an employee in any GCC country, using that country’s labour law. Laws change, so confirm large payouts with the labour ministry or a lawyer.

How the end-of-service gratuity works

Rules used.

  • Bahrain: since March 2024, employers pay 4.2% of basic salary a month to the SIO for the first 3 years and 8.4% after; the SIO pays the balance when the worker leaves.
  • Saudi Arabia: half a month of pay per year for 5 years, then a full month. Pay includes fixed allowances. Resigning before 2 years pays nothing, 2–5 years one third, 5–10 years two thirds.
  • UAE: 21 days of basic pay per year for 5 years, then 30 days, capped at 2 years of pay.
  • Qatar: at least 21 days of basic pay per year.
  • Oman: one month of basic pay per year under the 2023 law.
  • Kuwait: 15 days per year for 5 years, then one month.

Tip. Most countries require at least one year of service. Unpaid leave usually does not count towards service.
